Mohammed Haris has not been picked for the Pakistan 17man squad for the series of five T20 matches against New Zealand which is starting from January 12. He is out of team since Asia cup. Shadab Khan also missed the squad due to the ankle injury. These two major absents in the squad.

However, both players are still part of the team for long term plans. Haris is rested because of some first class performances and we saw harry capability. Shadab is white ball specialist and the very important member of the team. Unfortunately, he got injured by twisted ankle which take two weeks to rehab. He will available for the team after that Pakistan’s chief selector Wahab Riaz conformed that.

Naseem shah has recovered from injury but still need rest, expecting to play PSL, asked by chief selector Wahab Riaz.

Pakistan team playing international cricket without the major pick fast bowler Naseem Shah who is unfit since September. Husnain, Shadab, Ehsanullah Naseem are injured but the good news there both are recovered and under the rehab in the academy and did not overload him so they are available for the PSL. Ehsanullah will take more time not sure he is available for the PSL. Shadab will also come to academy after his injury and he will undergo rehab.

Shaheen Shah Afridi leads the team first time as a Captain of the team. He is full time T20 captain. Three wicket keepers are in the squad Mohammed Rizwan, Azam Khan and uncapped Haseebullah as the backups ahead T20 world cup 2024 in USA and Caribbean.

Wahab said, all three wicketkeepers are performing well in the domestic and international stages. Before years we were not create backups along forward into the world cup so we try some boys. Haseebullah played in middle order for Peshawar zalmi and very impactful in the white ball cricket from few years. Haseeb opens the inning in domestic cricket but we have trouble in no 4 and 7 in the past. Now we building phase so we know who will grab the opportunity. Keep in mind we pick Haseebullah because he proves before with his bat with the strike rate of (120.65) which is high.

Wahab said we watched Azam khan closely and its happens we prefer skill or fitness. It much important over anything that a player winning you a match. we asked clearly to Azam that we invest on you and you also have to respond as well and work on your fitness.

Haris Rouf also joining the team as he responds back out from the test series against Australia.
