Argentine Star Footballer Lional Messi has announced that his team is going to face Newells Old Boys club in a friendly match of pre-season. The friendly match will be played on 15 February, 2024. It takes place on Thursday in DRV PNK Stadium (Florida). Messi will be going to face his childhood team for the first time. Fans can grab the tickets on sale on Inter Miami’s official website.

After a break from competitive football since Inter Miami failed to qualify for MSL playoffs, Leo decided to host his first club in the mid of Feb. Currently, Messi is enjoying his holidays and he is excited to play against his childhood club. Leo speaks many time that he will play against Newells Old Boys club once a life. The match will expected to be the full-house even though it is preseason friendly.
Gerardo “Tata” Martino who is currently the Head Coach of Inter Miami has also a special connection with Newells. He is the club’s all-time appearances leader. In addition, he also comes the succesful manager of that team between 2012-13 season.

“I am delighted to welcome my beloved Newell’s to our home here in Miami. It will be a special match due to everything Newell’s Old Boys means to me. It will also be a good opportunity to prepare for what will surely be an exciting season”.Later in a tweet MSLs club also announced the schedule of the game.

The match with Inter Miami against the club from Rosario, the hometown of Martino and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi. The pair came through the youth ranks at the Argentine club. Messi left Newell’s to join FC Barcelona after a productive youth career with the Argentine side. Messi’s record was very impressive in Newell’s as he record 234 goals in a six years of career.
