ICC announces that the champions trophy 9th edition played in Pakistan, from 21 February to 14 march 2025. The 8 top national team teams participating in this remarkable ODI tournament. Pakistan is currently defending the title as they beat India in the final of champions trophy 2017.

Pakistan and India once again in front of each other in the group along with South Africa and Sri Lanka. while in the other group Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are expected to face each other. Two times world cup winner West Indies has not take place in Top 8 teams.

 

ICC declared 30 September is the cut of date to declare top 8 teams in the ranking who qualifies the champions trophy 2025. West indies who was on the 9th place in the ranking failed to qualify and Bangladesh will be in the invent for the first time since 2006 having finished in 7th spot on the ranking on the cut of date.

Venues:

Pakistan cricket board suggest Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan for the venues to play this mega event. Peshawar stadium which is specially prepared for this event could be most beautiful stadium of all. But ICC committee will approve these proposed venues when the fixture of champions trophy announced.

ICC Agrees to Sign hosting Rights Agreement of ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The agreement of hosting rights for the 2025 mega event was signed by chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf with International cricket council(ICC) in Dubai. The ICC accept the request of PCB to not allowed to any team or any country to make any excuse of not come to Pakistan for the mega event.

Local media report that the previous management committee had several issues and objections based on the documents sent by international cricket council. ICC chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice visited Pakistan in May but the issue still unsettled. Pakistan take stand if any country refuses to come Pakistan on behalf of security issue, they would refuse unilateral decisions and seeks assessment by the independent security agency. Request accepted by the ICC.

The current plans only focused to hosting matches within Pakistan. But, there is worry about the Indian government refuses to board of cricket in India (BCCI) to send the Indian team to Pakistan.  Then there is might possibility to relocate some matches in UAE. However, the ICC needs to cover all additional expenses and the adjustment of the tournament is more important.

The PCB already informed to the government for the strong security measure for the international teams during the champion trophy. In the recent meeting of caretaker prime minister Anwar Ul Haq Kakar and PCB chairman. He guaranteed from the security agencies to ensure to success full hosting of the ICC champions trophy.
